
Minister, Educator, Motivator
Yasmin Whirl is a native of Toomsboro, GA, and the daughter of Willie C. and Irene Strange. She has two sisters, two nieces, and two nephews. She has worked in public education for 27 years in the Wilkinson County School District. She attended public school in the Wilkinson County School District, graduated with the class of 1993. While in school she was a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Marching Band, Concert Band, and served on the yearbook and prom committee. Over the years her passion for Christ has afforded her the opportunity to work in Children’s Ministry, Music Ministry, Marketing Ministry, Intercessory Prayer, Church Leadership/Administration, and Single’s Ministry.
She holds a Doctorate and Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, a Specialist and Master’s Degree in Counseling, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Her college years at Georgia Southwestern State University were filled with participating in GSW Concert Band, GSW Gospel Choir, and attending a weekly bible study hosted by now Pastor Michelle McCrary of the Atlanta, GA, area. She is very proud of her HBCU experience while working on a Master’s Degree at Fort Valley State University where she graduated in 2001. College didn’t stop there. She continued with earning additional graduated degrees from Argosy University while attending the Atlanta campus and Sarasota campus in Florida. In 1997 she secured a job with the Wilkinson County School District, Irwinton, GA, and has been employed there since in various capacities. She was licensed into the ministry in 2009 under the leadership of Pastor Edward Tyrone Turner, Kingdom Living Church. In 2019, she graduated from Interdenominational Theological Center with a certificate in Theology. She is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2018 , she was honored to travel abroad and preach the gospel in Johannesburg, South Africa, with Thy Kingdom Has Come Ministries in Atlanta, GA. Philippians 4:13 is her motto: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
In 2016 she hosted her first annual women’s conference titled, ” Women on the Frontline”. In 2018 she penned her first book, The Gift: My Journey of Singlehood, and released her second book in 2021, Dancin’ In the Rain. In 2021 she began a monthly virtual talk show, Tuesday Talk with Dr. Yaz.
Dr. Whirl is proud of her heritage of growing up in a rural town surrounded by a large family who loves to sing, traditional and biblical roots of church homecoming, revivals, and more at the Jordan Stream Baptist Church, leadership of Rev. Arthur L. Gordon, III. Several pioneers in the gospel have help paved her way: Rev. Arthur L. Gordon, III; Bishop Gus H. Cooper, Sr; Pastor Tyrone Turner; Bishop Jamie Johnson; and Elder Damika Glover.
